What makes Notis Castile Soap stand out?
Our soap is crafted with just three simple ingredients: 100% extra virgin olive oil, distilled water, and a pinch of sea salt. Unlike commercial soaps loaded with chemicals, Notis Castile is handmade the traditional way, offering a pure and natural option for your skin.
Why is the 10% fat content so important?
The extra 10% fat content in our soap isn't just an added bonus—it's what makes it incredibly moisturizing, and unique. Most soaps have less than 4% of these natural oils. Notis Castile soap not only cleanses your skin but also keeps it soft and hydrated, making it perfect for anyone with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema. That extra fat content means your skin is cared for without being stripped of its natural moisture.
What does Greek lavender do for the soap?
We add handpicked Greek lavender from the Tygetos mountains near Notis, giving our soap a soothing scent and extra skin-calming benefits. It’s a luxurious touch that makes your daily routine feel a little more special.
Can I use this soap for more than just washing?
Absolutely! Our soap is strong enough to get almost anything out of the whitest shirts but gentle enough for a baby’s delicate skin. It’s a multitasker, great for face washing, stain removal, or even adding to your favorite face mask for extra hydration.
What’s this saponification process all about?
Saponification is the traditional process that turns olive oil into soap. It works by breaking down the complex oils using sodium hydroxide (lye) and transforming them into fatty acids, which then solidify into soap. Here’s the cool part—in our soap, 10% of the extra virgin olive oil isn’t converted. It’s trapped in its pure form, meaning your skin gets direct benefits from the natural oils, delivering all the good stuff like moisture and antioxidants right to your skin. Unlike many soaps today, which rely on harsh chemicals like sodium dodecyl sulfate (SLS) and then add things back in like collagen to make up for it, our soap is 100% pure and natural. The lye we use is less than 0.02%, leaving you with a soap that’s incredibly gentle. With Notis Castile, you’re getting the real deal—no chemical fillers, just pure olive oil goodness.
Why does it take over 60 days to make this soap?
Good things take time. We let our soap cure for over 60 days, allowing it to become harder, to preserve the natural components (and no added chemicals), longer-lasting, and more luxurious—just like aging a fine wine.
Is Notis Castile Soap good for sensitive or acne-prone skin?
Yes! Our soap is gentle, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores. The olive oil we use contains oleic acid, which fights acne and soothes inflammation, making it ideal for sensitive or acne-prone skin.
